The Panthers RLFC will embrace their heritage from season 2009 onwards by reverting to our more famous name the "Wests Panthers”. This will further emphasise our proud heritage of being a foundation club of the BRL formed out of a merger between the Toowong and North Brisbane Clubs in 1915. Over the 84 years of our existence we have collected 12 First Grade Premierships with the most recent being in 1992.
For the real traditionalists Wests used to be referred to as the "mud and bloods", due to the design of our hooped home jersey, however the use of this nickname has become rarer since the introduction of the Panther logo in 1968. On an interesting aside the traditional colors were Blue (Toowong) and Red (North) with dye shortages through the war years resulting in the red and black hooped jersey we still play out of today.
