On Anzac Day panther fans saw two outstanding games of rugby league. In the FOGS Colts challenge it was a see sawing battle and with five minutes to play Redcliffe were clinging on to a 22 - 16 lead. To the Panthers credit they scored andgoing ino the last two minutes scores were locked at 22 all. You wouldn't belive it but in the last 20 seconds they Panthers were penalised for offside and the Redcliffe Dolphins landed the conversion to escape with a 24 - 22 win against the Panthers. There is no doubt the Panthers Colts are a very talented team and once they develop a ruthless instinct they will win plenty of games. Centre Tyrone Pascoa continues to impress in only his 3rd game of Colts football. Halfback Brentt Warr looks a player of the future as he gains his confidence in steering the team around the field.
Before the kickoff to the main game the Panthers put on a moving tribute to our Anzac Heroes. It was great to see both teams lined up for the tribute and thanks goes to the Redcliffe Dolphins n your support of the trbute. Right from the Kick Off for A-Grade everyone know it was going to be a quality clash with seven former Dolphins turning out for the Panthers. In a very fast physical encounter the Panthers dominated to win 24 - 6. The move of Shannon Fish from lock to hooker proved a master stroke as Shannon created havoc around the ruck including scoring a great individual try in front of a packed Alfresco Bar Area at the Arana Leagues Club. Backrowers Danny Green and Dean Sheppard were outstanding on the edges with Dean Sheppard constantly breaking the line and providing some room for the outside backs. The Panthers are the best defensive team in the FOGS Cup A grade at the end of round seven, but expect to see the attack improve as the combinations begin to come together.
All Panther Fans are encouraged this week to travel over to Bishop Park at Nundah to cheer on the Red and Blacks on Sunday the 3rd of May 2009 as they take on the Norths Devils. The Colts match commences at 10.45am with the FOGS Cup A-Grade commencing at 12.15pm.
