




The Panthers travelled to Wises Rd at Maroochydore to take on the Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles on Sunday. The day was a cross promotion with the Sunshine Coast Rugby League that saw both matches preceed the local A Grade clash between the Maroochydore Coolum Swans and the Gympie Devils.
In the FOGS Colts Challenge match the Sunshine Coast held a narrow lead at halftime 12 - 10. the second half was a bruising encounter with Sunshine Coast Leading 16 - 14 with five minutes remaining. The Panthers trew everything they could at the Sea Eagles in attack and were rewarded for the attitude in not giving up by receiving an offside penalty which Matt Lennon converted to snatcha 16 all draw. The Panthers colts again showed they are good enough to beat any side if they turn up with the right attitude.
In the FOGS Cup A-Grade match a tentative first half by the Panthers saw them go into the sheds with a slender 22 -16 lead. The second half saw the Panthers slip into gear to race away convincing 52 - 16 winners. The win now sees the Panthers in a good position to wrap up the minor premiership. The Panthers have a bye this week before the last game to be held on sunday the 23rd of August at Purtell Park.
Every is urged to get to Purtell Park on this day to see if the Panther Colts can make the semi finals and the Panthers A Grade can wrap up the minor premiership. Souths will be ready to fire in both grades with there Colts team on top and there A Grade team looking to make the semi finals as well.
The day will also be the annual former Panthers players and officials reunion so come out and enjoy a drink with your mates and revisit the good times of the past.
