The Tony Curries Tyres and More Colts took on the Premiership favourites and the competition leaders, Souths Logan and were soundly beaten 40 - 26. After being down 34 nil at half time the young Panthers showed enough in the second half to suggest they are well and truly in this competition if they get their attitude right.
Coach Doug Kellaway whilst unhappy with the final result was satisfied with the second half fight back. Players that lead from the front were Aron Corbin, Matt Currie and Brent Warr.
This week the side travels to Tweed Heads to take on the joint competition leaders. The boys will be up for the game as it is now time to start getting some solid results.
The Coldwell Banker Inspire A Grade defeated South Logan 28 - 20. The Panthers have been knocking on the door the past few weeks and finally strung together the football they are capable of in winning a tight contest.
Coach Craig Ingebrigtsen was relieved to get the two points and suggested the Panthers best football is still way down the track. It was apleasing result especially without key play makers Daniel Green and Marty Turner.
The stand-outs were Adam Starr, Robbie Congoo, Shannon Fish and "The Fridge".
The team travels over the border this week-end to take on Tweed Heads, who lead the competition leaders Redcliffe for all but 10 minutes of their game last week. The Panthers need some consistency in their footy, Ingebrigtsen said "It is very important that we stick to our process and don't look at the competition ladder and focus solely on ourselves".
